Patton CEO, Clinton, to Address Export-Import Conference
April 05, 2012

Talking Economics With Robert R. Patton

Patton Electronics is not only a provider of VoIP gateway and Ethernet extender solutions across the globe:  Patton is also a respected voice in the economic community on the topic of business growth.

Serving as a panelist—joined by such noteworthy speakers as former President Bill Clinton—Robert R. Patton (Bobby), CEO will address the 2012 Annual Conference of the United States’ Export-Import (EXIM) Bank on April 12.

Mr. Patton hopes listeners will walk away from his panel session with a stronger understanding of the “transformational impact that exports can have on a small business' growth and bottom line.”

The event is expected to highlight "what resources are available to entrepreneurs for overcoming the challenges associated with securing large scale export success," according to Mr. Patton. The EXIM conference provides an opportunity for companies around the world to meet U.S. exporters of all sizes. Featuring a “speed-networking” session, international buyers and U.S. sellers will be able to meet and do business in one-on-one sessions.

Bobby also noted that the panel discussion aims to “identify key leadership and managerial challenges associated with a business strategy that leverages exports as a source of growth.”

When probed about the connection between the company’s VoIP products and its economic position as an exporter, Mr. Patton said, "Our SmartNode VoIP products are globally relevant. This has only happened by getting close to our customers. We have gone to our customers and listened to them—many of those interactions have been face-to-face—and responded."

Bobby further explained, “The benefits of exporting typically need to be earned through transformation of business processes that enable unique selling propositions and competitive advantage. Our invitation to participate in this event recognizes Patton’s unique advantages.”

The various and widespread challenges facing leaders of multinational businesses span economic and political boundaries. Drawing industry representatives from Latin America, India, and Africa, the conference should shed some light on possible solutions to the challenges facing businesses as they work at moving forward in this delicate economy.

As Mr. Patton phrased it, "No one has all the answers. But it never hurts to explore the solutions."

For some historical background on how Patton got to where the company is today, read Bobby's interview with Doug Barry of the International Trade Administration. The write-up in entitled: “Micro Multinational” Helps Connect the World
