Using SmartNode™ VoIP Gateways with
the 3CX Soft-PBX
Patton
SmartNode and 3CX have teamed up to help small to medium enterprises realize the cost-savings and improved
inter-office communications of VoIP technology while preserving
investments in legacy computer phone, and fax equipment. By combining SmartNode VoIP
gateways with a 3CX soft-IP-PBX, companies can connect existing
hardware and systems to the PSTN and the IP-telephony
network.
As a gateway expert and guest on the 3CX VoIP blog, Marco Liechti of Patton talks about what a VoIP Gateway is, when it makes sense to use one together with a 3CX phone
system (part I), how to install and configure the setup (part
II), and finally, basic VoIP Gateway troubleshooting techniques
(part III).

| How to
install and configure a voIP gateway for use with a 3CX
enterprise VoIP system. Step-by step walk-through using
the SmartNode 4638 ISDN BRI Gateway as an example.

ISDN PRI lines
Patton ISDN PRI gateways provide 1 or 4 physical PRI interfaces.
The model code indentifies the call capacity of
each gateway, ranging from 15 to 120 voice calls. By
selecting the
model with the capacity closest to your requirements, you only pay for
the capacity you need.
Since call capacity is regulated by software, it can be increased
by purchasing the comensurate software license. Because the
PRI interface can be software- configured as E1 (Europe,
South America, etc.) or T1 (US, Japan, etc.), SmartNode™ PRI
gateways and IADs can be deployed anywhere in the
world.
