Patton-Inalp just released SmartWare version 5.3. It can be downloaded free of charge here. This release is the most feature-rich to date and includes exciting new functionality like
- HTTP client for firmware and configuration provisioning
- Syslog
- SSH access
- Ability to indicate "Message Waiting" on both analog and ISDN terminals
- SIP overlap sending to allow end-to-end open numbering plans
- RFC4240 conferencing
In addition, Release 5.3 will include a free version of the SIP Registrar license. This free version will allow users to configure up to 3 inbound registrations to the SmartNode, allowing IP Phones or soft clients to access the gateway without going through a SIP proxy or IP PBX.
This new SmartWare release will replace SmartWare version 4.2 as the factory-shipped firmware in February, 2009. Customers should note that the configuration syntax has changed between versions 4 and 5, and all existing configurations may need to be updated to version 5 syntax to help ensure functionality does not change after the upgrade.
