Patton Earns 2017 Product of the Year for PoE Extender
Communications Solutions Magazine recognizes Patton’s CopperLink 1101 Power-over-Ethernet Extender for exceptional innovation in IoT networking technology.
CopperLink™ Ethernet Extenders… Going the Distance!
We are honored to accept this award,” said Johnnie Grant III, Product Line Manager, Patton. “The distance limitations of Ethernet and the challenges of delivering electrical power often make it too expensive or technically impossible for system designers to position endpoint devices where they are needed. Patton technology changes all that.”
Patton’s new Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) Extender changes the game for IP-network engineers who design solutions involving IP cameras, IP phones, IP-enabled smart-LED lighting, digital signage, traffic devices, industrial sensors, monitoring devices, flow meters, wireless access points (WAPs), intercoms, sensors, card readers, HVAC controls, PLCs, and a host of other Ethernet endpoint devices.
Available in water-proof IP67-compliant, outdoor enclosures, the CopperLink 1101 PoE Extender extends extend 10/100 Ethernet plus up to 15 Watts of 802.3af (or legacy) PoE up to 3,300 feet (915 meters) to IP-enabled devices using a single pair of common copper telephone wires or coaxial cable.
“Network cabling is often embedded in concrete, inside walls, or buried under asphalt,” Mr. Grant explains. “Replacing all that can cost a fortune! Our solution conserves capital by re-using legacy cabling versus installing new Cat5... or fiber, which can’t deliver power.”
Standard PoE specifies 4-wire cabling, yet the CL1101 operates over 2 wires. By leveraging low-voltage copper infrastructure to deliver power the CL1101 eliminates the expense of a high-voltage construction project while enabling All-IP migration and the Internet of Things (IoT).
“Congratulations to Patton for their success,” said Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC. “The CopperLink 1101 product line is truly among the most innovative solutions brought market to this year. Patton’s PoE extender series facilitates business-transforming voice, data and video communications. I look forward to continued excellence from Patton in 2018 and beyond.”
CopperLink PoE Extenders are available in commercial, industrial, and IP67-compliant versions.
Last month, Patton announced a new portfolio of xDSL CPE that covers broadband service gaps.

About CopperLink™ Ethernet Extenders
Patton has built Ethernet extenders in the USA ever since bringing the first Ethernet extender to market in the 1990s. Branded LAN-Xtend™, the Model 2111 achieved 2.3 Mbps over single twisted-pair. In 2002, Patton released the award-winning CopperLink™ 2158 that achieved speeds over 10 Mbps and reached up to 4656 feet (1372 meters). Announcing the CopperLink™ 2172 in 2006, Patton achieved full-duplex speeds up to 50 Mbps and distances reaching up to 6000 feet (1,820 meters). In 2010, Patton introduced the industry’s most versatile Ethernet Extender, the CopperLink™ 2160, capable of delivering 45 Mbps broadband Ethernet services and reaching distances up to 5.2 miles (8.3 kilometers) or more. Today CopperLink™ Ethernet Extenders are installed and operating in a vast diversity of environments, including nuclear power plants , submarines, sports arenas, election systems, and a rock 'n' roll celebrity museum .
