Guidelines for using Patton trademarks
Introduction
Patton's trademarks and service marks are valuable assets
because they represent the quality, integrity and goodwill
of Patton products and services worldwide. By following these
guidelines, you help safeguard our trademark rights and strengthen
our corporate and brand identities.
What are trademarks and service marks?
Trademarks and service marks are words, logos, symbols,
acronyms, slogans, or taglines that identify and characterize
a company as the source of its products and services.
A valid trademark holder may prevent others from using
its mark for particular goods or services, and, in the
event of infringement, may recover monetary damages from
the infringing party.
Trademarks and service marks are defined as follows:
-
Registered marks (indicated by the ®
symbol) are registered with the U.S. Trademark Office
and may also be registered in individual states in the
U.S. and in foreign countries
-
Common law (unregistered) marks indicated
by the trademark (TM) or service mark (SM) symbols.
Companies can use the TM symbol on any mark which serves
to identify that company's goods, and the SM symbol
on any mark which serves to identify that company's
services.
