This Next Generation Quarra PTP Ethernet Switch delivers POE+ power, twenty-four (24) 100/1000/2.5G/5G/10GT local Ethernet Ports, plus eight (8) 10G Uplink SFP Ports. IEEE 1588 PTPv2 with all clocking modes (Transparent Clock, Boundary Clock and Ordinary Clock), plus NTP v4 means Quarra switches are ready for Media Broadcast, ProAV and Industrial use-cases. The unit is ruggedized for heavy use.

• IEEE 1588 Clock Synchronization - The industry’s most Accurate IEEE 1588 Timing & Synchronization for nanosecond accurate timing.
• All Clocking Modes - Including Ordinary-Boundary, Peer to Peer Transparent Clock, End to End Transparent Clock.
• Hardware Timestamping - Transparent Clock is Hardware Timestamped for super accurate synchronization in 5G networks and video applications. The switch adds timestamps to PTP event packets as they enter and exit the Switch.

SMPTE 2022-6, 2110 standards and as Precision Time Protocol (PTP) are essential elements of this transformation.

These Carrier Class Switches are designed for highly accurate nanosecond timing and control.  IEEE 1588 PTPv2 with all clocking modes, plus NTP v4 means Quarra switches are ready for Media Broadcast, ProAV, Defense, and Industrial application and is ruggedized for heavy use.

The device supports all possible clocking modes including Ordinary & Boundary Clocks, Peer to Peer Transparent Clock, End to End Transparent Clock with Hardware Timestamping (The switch adds timestamps to PTP event packets as they enter and exit the Switch).  Super accurate clock synchronization means the unit is well suited for 5G networks, video and industrial applications (including support for the Modbus TCP protocol).  Support for  QoS CoS/DSCP increases determinism.

The PTP-10GG8POE has been tested as fully interoperable with SMPTE 2110, SDVoE (Tx/Rx), AES67 and Dante.  Grandmaster integration testing has been performed with all standard Grandmaster Clocks such as Meinberg and Sonifex.

The unit boasts powerful switching features including 8 Priority Queues, 9216bytes Jumbo Frame, 16K MAC Table Size and 12Mbits Packet Buffer.  Traffic Management is done with IEEE 802.3x flow control to manage traffic to prevent network congestion and data loss.  And the unit supports IGMP Snooping v1/v2/v3, up to 512 groups and DHCP Relay Option 82 for policies IP address assignment and RSTP, MSTP, ERPS, LACP for Network Redundancy and Ring Protection.

Configuration and Management can be performed with an intuitive Web GUI, can be configured locally or remotely using a CLI (command line interface) and offers SNMP v1/v2c/v3 for network management.

The Quarra PTP-10G4POE is used as a Precision Timing Protocol Leaf Switch, connected locally using 24x 1G POE Ethernet to IP media broadcast gear and aggregating to Spine Switches using 4x 10 Gig SFP Ethernet (Fiber).
