The IM2RC/IA QuikConnect InterfaceModule works in conjunction with Patton QuikConnect baseband modems, fibermodems and CSU/DSU to provide an extremely wide array of access andtransmission solutions. Operation of the Patton IM2RC/IA is transparent to higher network levelprotocols such as TCP/IP, DECnet, NETBIOS and IPX. The Model IM2RC/IA is802.3 compliant and supports PPP (RFC 1661) with Bridging Control Protocol(RFC 1638). Once installed in the local Patton NetLink rack, the Patton IM2RC/IA worksin a "plug and play" manner to forward LAN broadcasts, multicasts and framesdestined for the peered Ethernet LAN at the remote end (the Patton base unitat the remote end must be equipped with an IM1/I module). Using the PattonIM2RC/IA, peered Ethernet LANs can be linked over leased 2-wire/4-wire, DDS,PCM and campus fiber circuits.
