All-Rate CSU/DSU has Interface Modules2.27.1998 GAITHERSBURG, Maryland, USA, February 27, 1998 - Patton Electronics Company has recently introduced a dedicated, all-rate CSU/DSU that acceptsPatton's swappable QuikConnect interface modules. The Patton 2530DigiLink-V supports sync or async 4-wire communication at data rates up to64 kbps. Able to accommodate routers, multiplexers and servers with aV.35, RS-232, X.21, RS-422/530 or 64k/G.703 interface, the Patton 2530connects to digital 4-wire services such as DDS and Clear Channel. ThePatton 2530 can also be in a campus network over private twisted pairs. The Patton 2530 incorporates rate adaptation for both network and DTEinterfaces: DTE data rates supported by the Patton 2530 include 1.2, 2.4,4.8, 9.6, 19.2, 38.4, 56 and 64 kbps. Network data rates include 2.4, 4.8,9.6, 19.2, 56 and 64 kbps (dedicated). The Patton 2530 carries a fullcompliment of on-board diagnostics, including telco (CSU) loop, V.54compliant local and remote loops and a V.52 BER test pattern generator/detector (511 & 2047). Anti-streaming and auto equalization functions arealso built-in. The Patton 2530 supports internal, external, receiverecovered (network) and campus clocking, and operates in point-to-point ormultipoint environments. The front panel of the Patton 2530 incorporates 18 diagnostic LEDindicators (TD, RD, RTS, CTS, CD, DSR, DTR, line rate, no signal, error,test and power). A modular control port allows remote configuration andmonitoring using a VT-100 compatible serial terminal. The rear panel ofthe Patton 2530 includes an RJ-48S modular line jack and a port thataccepts one of eight Patton QuikConnect DTE interface modules (V.35,RS-232, X.21, RS-422/530, 64k/G.703, Ethernet Bridge, High Speed Async orData+Voice). Built-in isolation transformers and gas tube surge protectorsguard the Model 2530's telco interface against data loss and damage due toground loops and transient surges. Power is supplied to the Patton 2530through an internal 100-240VAC power supply. The Patton 2530's IEC-320shrouded male power connector accepts a variety of standard power cords.DC power supply versions (24V and 48V) are also available. The USA-made Patton 2530 is priced starting at $695 each, which includes aV.35, RS-232, X.21 or RS-422/530 QuikConnect DTE interface module. SeparateQuikConnect modules are priced starting at $115 each. Product is scheduledto begin shipping in the Second Quarter of 1998.
