Family of High Speed HSSI Converters1.27.1998 WASHINGTON D.C., January 27, 1998 - Patton Electronics Company,Gaithersburg, MD has announced a family of HSSI (High Speed SerialInterface) converters at the ComNet '98 show. The Patton Model 2040 Seriesallows a device with a HSSI port to connect directly to a device with aV.35, X.21 or RS-530 port. Supporting synchronous data rates up to 10Mbps, the Patton Model 2040 Series is used to interconnect bridges,routers, switches, CSU/DSUs and other WAN components with dissimilarinterfaces. At the date of this release, the Patton Model 2040 Series wasbelieved by the manufacturer to be the first and only product series of itskind on the market. The Patton Model 2040 Series is transparent to protocol and passes all datasignals, all control signals, and all HSSI clocking paths except smooth togapped clock. Both local line and remote line loopbacks are supported.All three models in the Patton Model 2040 Series are available in twoversions: One version converts a HSSI DTE to a V.35, X.21 or RS-530 DCE(depending upon the model). The other version converts a HSSI DCE to aV.35, X.21 or RS-530 DTE (depending upon the model). The Patton Model 2040converts a HSSI (HD-50) interface to a V.35 (M/34) interface. The PattonModel 2041 converts a HSSI (HD-50) interface to an X.21 (DB-15) interface.The Patton Model 2042 converts a HSSI (HD-50) interface to an RS-530(DB-25) interface. All converters in the series feature an integral 6ft(1.8 m) cable, making a separate patch cable unnecessary in many cases. The Patton Model 2040 Series is housed in a sturdy ABS plastic casemeasuring 3.0" (7.6cm) long, 1.75" (4.4cm) wide and 0.75" (1.9cm) high.Power is supplied to the Patton Model 2040 Series by an external AC/mainsadapter--both domestic and international versions are available, with avariety of standard power cords.
