Rack-Mount G.703 Balun Panel

GAITHERSBURG, Maryland, USA, May 28, 1999--Patton Electronics Companyhas announced a G.703 balun panel that consolidates up to 16 dual coax(75 Ohm) to twisted pair (120 Ohm) baluns into 2U of vertical rack space.The Patton Model 460RC TeleMatch™ Balun Panel mounts in a standard 19"rack, and is only 1.9" deep. Supporting data rates up to 2.048 Mbps,the Model 460RC panel allows multiple network devices with dual coax G.703(75 Ohm) ports to connect to network devices with twisted pair G.703(120 Ohm) ports. Individual balun modules are swappable, and may beconfigured independently. The Model 460RC is designed to consolidateand simplify G.703 media conversion for carriers, ISPs and corporationsdeploying high concentrations of G.703 networking hardware.

Fully Modular Design
The Model 460RC panel is fully modular, meaning that individual balunmodules can be installed, removed and configured in the field. Thepanel may be purchased fully loaded with 16 balun modules\97or the chassisand balun modules may be purchased separately if less than 16 balunsare required. On individual twisted pair ports, shield-to-pin andshield-to-ground connections are strap selectable. So the end-useris not locked into the same configuration for every balun in the panel.

Each balun module in the Model 460RC is equipped with standard dual BNCconnectors (male or female) for connection to 75 Ohm coax (RG 59 or 2002),and a single shielded RJ-45 jack for connection to 120 Ohm twisted pair.Link-to-Data isolation is 500 Volts AC/DC. The Model 460RC measures 19"(48.3 cm) wide, 3.5" (8.9 cm) high and 1.9" (4.8 cm) deep. No power isrequired for operation, and the unit is ITU-T G.703 compliant.
