Pocket-Sized NTU Terminates E1/FE1 Circuits11.12.1998 GAITHERSBURG, Maryland, USA, November 12, 1998 - Patton Electronics Company has just announced a pocket-sized network termination unit (NTU) that terminates both unframed G.703 (aka clear channel) and framed G.704 (aka fractional or n x 64) 2.048 Mbps E1 circuits. Measuring only 9 x 5.3 x 2 cm (3.55 x 2.1 x 0.78 inches), the Patton Model 2715 NTU plugs directly into the V.35 DTE port of a router, switch or multiplexer and connects that piece of networking equipment to a 4-wire E1 circuit. The Model 2715 supports all necessary G.703/G.704 diagnostics, including CO line loopback (LLB), payload loopback (PLB), DTE local/remote loops and V.54 loop up/loop down. Diagnostics are initiated through the Model 2715's control port, or through the DTE or line interfaces. Easily readable LED indicators include TD, RD, Loss of Sync (LOS), Alarm, Error, Test and Power. Configuration of the Model 2715 is done through the control port or by setting hardware DIP switches. Line encoding is selectable for AMI or HDB3; clocking may be set for internal, external or network (receive recover) clock. The Model 2715 incorporates one 120 ohm RJ-45 jack for modular connection to the E1 network and one M/34 connector that plugs directly into a standard V.35 interface on a router, switch or multiplexer (an M/34 to HD-60 adapter cable is available from Patton to connect the Model 2715 to Cisco routers). The Model 2715 is powered by an external, universal input 90 - 260 VAC adapter. The Model 2715 is also available in a 2U rack card (the Model 2715RC), which fits in Patton's 16-slot rack chassis or 2/4/8-slot ClusterBoxes. SNMP management of Model 2715RC rack cards and Model 2715 plug-in NTUs is accomplished using the Patton Model 1000MC SNMP Proxy Agent card. A built-in HTTP server on the Model 1000MC allows remote management through the Internet using a standard Web browser. The Patton Model 2715 E1/FE1 NTU (plug-in or rack mount version) is list priced at $995 each. List price for the Model 1000MC SNMP Proxy Agent card is $995 each.
