Single Fiber Modems Extend E1/G.703 Connections12.13.2000 Patton Electronics announces the Models 1186 and 1193, the latest additions to its line of Multi-Mode and Single-Mode Fiber Optic Modems. Supporting full-duplex operation using only a single strand of fiber, the Model 1186 provides E1/G.703 network extension up to 2.5 km (1.6 miles) while the Model 1193 provides E1/G.703 network extension up to 50 km (31 miles). Both modems are completely transparent to structured data and can be use with structured G.703/G.704 links as well as unstructured G.703 2.048 mbps links. For complete flexibility the NetLink 1193 and 1186 modem provide both 120 Ohm (RJ-48C) and 75 Ohm (dual BNC) E1/G.703 interfaces. The Model 1186 supports an LED based Multi-Mode fiber (62.5/125\b5) interface with options for ST or SMA fiber connectors. The Model 1193 has a Single-Mode (9/125\b5) LASER driven fiber interface with SC or FC fiber connectors. Patton's NetLink Fiber modes offer versatile clocking options and include Internal, Network (from G.703/G.704 Network) or Receive Recovered clock (from fiber line), and are ITU-T CTR 12 (G.703) compliant. The modems also incorporate built-in V.54 compliant local/remote loopbacks and V.52 compliant 511/511E test patterns. Test patterns and loopback diagnostics can be initiated locally via front panel switches. System, Fiber, and E1/G.703 link operation can be determined instantly via multicolored front panel LED status indicators. Available in a both standalone or rack-mount packages, the Models 1193RC and 1186RC rack cards are designed for use in Patton's NetLink-1001 2U redundant rack chassis. The NetLink 1001 rack system provides dual-redundant AC and/or DC power supply options and includes all the features of the standalone units and occupies a mere 2U of rack space.
