Burkhalter’s appointment comes amid forecasted growth in the global session border controller market—Patton’s core business—at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 13.6% from 2012 through 2016. Meanwhile, optimistic expectations for growth in the region’s overall economy were recently nourished by news of the greatest weekly advance since 2011 in the European stock market. “European carriers and enterprises are facing a connectivity gap,” Burkhalter observes, “stemming from the ongoing transformation to all-IP networks.
