Two New Modem Eliminators 2.17.1995
V.35 and X.21 Models Available in Plug-in and Rack MountPatton is pleased to announce two new synchronous modem eliminators for WAN interfaces. The Model 1205 allows two V.35 DTEs (hosts orterminals) to communicate over short distances without the need for digital modems. The Model 1206 does the same job for two DTEs with X.21interfaces. Think of the cost savings when you eliminate two digital modems! Both the Model 1205 and 1206 support switch-selectable synchronous data rates of 32, 48, 56, 64, 72, 112, 128 and 144 Kbps. Clocking may beinternal or external. Both models also support DTE-to-DTE distances up to 300 ft over twisted pair wire . In addition, both models areprotocol-independent; all required data, clocking and control signals are passed between the two DTEs. The Model 1205 incorporates two female DB-25 connectors for connection to V.35 DTEs, according to the popular RS-530 electrical standard. Powerfor the Model 1205 is derived from the V.35 interfaces, so external AC power is generally not needed. The Model 1206 has two female DB-15connectors for connection to the X.21 DTEs. External AC power is required for the Model 1206. Both the Model 1205 and 1206 are housed in Patton'snew slim-line case, and measure approximately 3"x 2"x .75". The Model 1205 and 1206 are also available in 2U high rack card versions. We believe the Model 1205RC and 1206RC are the smallest rack mountmodem eliminators on the market! The Model 1205RC and 1206RC Function Cards feature status LEDs (TD, DTR and CD) for each port. TheInterface Cards for both models have a pair of female HD-26 connectors. Of course, both rack cards fit in Patton's 16-slot rack chassis and 2/4/8 slotCluster Boxes. Why not consolidate your modem eliminators in the same enclosure alongside Patton rack mount short hauls, converters, CSU/DSUs andG.703 Modems? For ease of installation, a variety of pre-made adapter cables are available from Patton for the plug-in and rack card versions of both units. Price for bothplug-in units is $375.00 each. The rack cards are priced at $360.00 each. Adapter cables start at $35.00 each. The Patton Model 1205 and 1206 arescheduled to begin shipping March 1, 1995.
