Two Mini Converters for V.35 Networking2.10.1999 GAITHERSBURG, Maryland, USA, February 10, 1999 -- Patton Electronics Company has announced two miniature V.35 interface converters for networking devices. The Patton Model 2014N connects a synchronous V.35 device to a synchronous RS-530 device. The Patton Model 2020N connects a synchronous V.35 device to a synchronous RS-232 device. Both converters are housed in miniature enclosures measuring only 2.40"L x 1.73"H x 0.89"W (6.10 x 4.39 x 2.26 cm), and both are powered solely by the interface signals themselves. The Models 2014N and 2020N are used to interconnect switches, routers, multiplexers, servers and other networking devices with dissimilar interfaces. The Model 2014N V.35 to RS-530 converter supports synchronous data rates up to 2.048 Mbps, and passes all necessary data, clocking and control signals. Operating bi-directionally (full or half duplex), the Model 2014N is transparent to protocol and requires no AC power or batteries. The Model 2014N incorporates one M/34 (V.35) connector and one DB-25 (RS-530) connector, available in various gender combinations. Either end may be plugged directly into one of the two networking devices--the other end is attached using a standard patch cable. Two basic versions of the Model 2014N are offered: DCE-to-DTE and DTE-to-DCE. U.S. list price for the Patton Model 2014N is $119 each, and product is shipping now. The Model 2020N V.35 to RS-232 converter passes all necessary data, clocking and control signals, and supports synchronous data rates up to 384 kbps. The Model 2020N operates bi-directionally (full or half duplex), and is transparent to protocol. No AC power or batteries are required for operation. Available in various gender combinations, the Model 2020N incorporates one M/34 (V.35) connector and one DB-25 (RS-232) connector. Either end may be plugged directly into a networking device; a standard patch cable attaches to the other end. The Model 2020N is internally strap-configurable for DCE-to-DTE or DTE-to-DCE operation.
