Patton Announces CSU/DSU Rack Controller Card

Patton is pleased to announce delivery of a CSU/DSU controller card for use with the Patton rack chassis and Cluster Boxes. The Patton Model 1000CCallows the 2500RC family of CSU/DSUs to be configured and controlled from an asynchronous RS-232 terminal. Control Port Counterpart
The Model 1000CC is the rack card counterpart to the RS-232 control port found on the front panel of the Patton Model 2500, 2510 and 2520standalone CSU/DSUs. Its use is essential to the functioning of the Model 2510RC (which operates in Switched mode only), because it provides the userwith a means of making a dial-up connection. The Model 1000CC is also an important adjunct to the Model 2500RC and 2520RC, as well as the2510RC, because it enables the user to remotely configure each CSU/DSU card in a rack (or series of racks). Virtually the same in appearance as other 2U high Patton rack cards, the Model 1000CC takes up one card slot and will work with several different rearinterface cards. Once installed, the Model 1000CC provides a single RS-232 port (DB-25 or modular) for the connection of an asynchronous terminal.The user wishing to "dial" or configure a particular CSU/DSU card simply keys in an addressable command, which the Model 1000CC passes along to allthe cards in the rack. The appropriate card recognizes its address and responds to the command. All other cards are locked out of the conversation. Daisy Chain/Remote Capability
The Model 1000CC not only lets a user dial and configure a rack full of CSU/DSUs from an RS-232 terminal. It can also be daisy-chained to otherModel 1000CC cards, so one user can communicate with multiple racks of CSU/DSUs. This is made possible by the use of dual RJ-11 or RJ-45 rearcards: One port is connected to the terminal, while the other port is used for daisy-chaining. Furthermore, the Model 1000CC's daisy-chain capability can be implemented remotely. By connecting the daisy-chain port of the Model 1000CC to aPatton short range modem card, the terminal link can be driven to a remote rack or Cluster Box with a second short haul and one or more CSU/DSUs.
