Patton Appoints Chief Financial Officer9.25.2000 GAITHERSBURG Md, September 25, 2000 - Patton Electronics Company, Inc., theright-cost supplier of network access and connectivity products, todayannounced the appointment of Roger J. Cavanaugh as Chief Financial Officer,reporting to Co-Owner and Executive Vice President of Finance andAdministration, Bruce E. Patton. Mr. Cavanaugh, former Managing Consultant with Xpedior, Inc. and ChiefFinancial Officer with NewTHINK, Inc. will oversee the raising of newcapital for Patton's record expansion and its corporate developmentactivity. His goal will be to help maintain Patton's preeminence in themarket for network access and connectivity products and help establish it asa major global player in data communications. The Internet has brought exciting applications exploding onto the market,voice and data convergence is spinning our heads, traditional and new mediaproviders are colliding and combining, and all the while the masses of theworld remain unconnected. Patton is building on its expertise in networkconnectivity, transmission and IP technologies to bring right-sizedsolutions and simplifying access to the global network. Mr. Cavanaugh joins Patton from Xpedior, Inc. where he served as theManaging Consultant for Xpedior developing E-business best practice businessmodels, E-business marketing intelligence models, E-business Return onInvestment (ROI) and business metrics databases. In this role he acted asthe liaison between Xpedior consulting teams and senior level clientmanagers (e.g. CIO, CEO, COO, CFO) to ensure their return on investment andthat "best business practices" were followed during execution. Roger also served as CFO for NewTHINK, a software consulting firm engaged inassessing the use of customer data in both traditional and e-Commerceenvironments. At NewTHINK he was responsible for all financial, legal, taxand HR functions. Roger has a wealth of experience in mergers and acquisitions, banking andinvestor relations, strategic planning and business process re-engineering.Roger spent 14 years in public accounting and served in various finance andaccounting management positions with Hazelton Laboratories, SCMGlidden/Durkee Corporation, and Westinghouse Electric Corporation. Mr. Cavanaugh said he was eager to use his finance, capital markets and M&Aexperience to help Patton realize its huge growth potential. "The shift toDSL and IP Access Technologies, where Patton is leading in cost-effectivesolutions, represents an enormous opportunity to build something ofmonumental scale over time. In order to fully take advantage of thispotential, Patton will require significant capital markets activity as wellas a nimble M&A strategy," he said. Mr. Cavanaugh, a licensed CPA, received his B.A. in Accounting from theUniversity of Massachusetts in 1964 and his MST/Taxation from AmericanUniversity in 1990. Roger has three grown children and lives GermantownMaryland. The Patton brothers, Bobby and Burt founded Patton Electronics in 1984,while students in college with the help of their moonlighting older brother,Bruce. Within two years their father, Robert, joined them in leading thecompany toward success. Patton's niche was making modems and connectivity products for thetelecommunications industry. Patton has taken those simple beginnings andexpanded into a manufacturing company that today employs more than 170people and provides a product line in excess of 300 items. In the past few years, Patton has built on its transmission expertise byinvesting heavily in product developments in the T1/E1/xDSL transmission andIP technologies.
