Patton's G.SHDSL IAD Integrates TDM and Packet for True Multi-Service Access

GAITHERSBURG, Maryland-Patton Electronics Company announces the release of the Model 3086 ipRocketLink G.SHDSL Integrated Access Device (IAD). Patton's new low-cost IAD combines dual serial and Ethernet access, full IP routing and security, and high-speed standards-based G.SHDSL transmission, all in a compact standalone package.
Reaching date rates up to 4.6 Mbps* on a single twisted pair, the Model 3086 sets the new standard for multi-service network access. "Now, with the Model 3086 IAD, providers can offer concurrent IP and TDM access over symmetric DSL, at a fraction of the cost of traditional solutions," said Scott Whittle, Patton's Marketing Director.

| Each Model 3086 integrates a G.SHDSL transmission link, an Ethernet port, an IP router and one serial port. Offering Ethernet LAN connectivity with high-speed IP routing and serial ports in the same modem, both TDM and IP packet data are transmitted simultaneously over a single twisted pair.
All versions of the Model 3086 combine dual Ethernet and synchronous serial data streams for full-duplex transmission over high-speed, open standards-based G.SHDSL links. Offering three serial interface options, V.35, X.21 and T1/E1, the IAD can be connected to routers, CSUs, NTUs, or other serial devices. By connecting the T1/E1 serial port to a PBX the IAD can deliver voice channels combined with IP traffic to a switched telephone network over a single 2-wire G.SHDSL line.
Network security at the customer premises is established through the IAD's rich software feature set, including NAT/NAPT, ACL, DHCP, firewall and an intrusion detection system (IDS). All security features are fully configurable. |

| | The 3086 delivers superior flexibility, offering such key features as fully-transparent serial transmission in nx64k DS0 increments and World-Wide-Web management via SNMP/HTTP. In addition, users may select ATM, PPP, HDLC or Frame Relay encapsulation for data transport over the DSL link. By selecting ATM the IAD can connect directly to ATM networks, or for efficient direct connection to IP networks, select lower-overhead HDLC or PPP encapsulation. With support for Frame Relay, FRF.5 and FRF.8, the Model 3086 can also transport Frame Relay traffic over high-speed ATM networks.
The Model 3086 IAD is available in four versions: 3086/RIC (V.35 serial port with M/34), 3086/RID (X.21 with DB-15), 3086/RIK (RJ-48C T1/E1 serial port) and the 3086/RICA (V.35 with DB25).
Based on the International Telecommunications Union (ITU-T) and European Telecommunications Standardization Institue (ETSI) G.SHDSL G.991.2 Annex A and Annex B and G.994.1 G.hs recommendations, the Model 3086 series complies with the specified 2.304 Mbps data rate over 2-wire, but also offers data rates up to 4.6 Mbps over a single twisted pair. Customers may be connected up to distances of 5.6 miles* (9.1 km) apart.
