Patton's Model 1065 Environmentally Enhanced Baseband Modem comes housed ina ruggedized chassis and incorporates extended temperature components andprotective treatments. The Model 1065 has built-in transformer isolation andsurge protection. The Model 1065 is an industrial short range modem that supports data ratesup to 64 kbps over two-wire (half duplex) or four-wire (full or halfduplex), in synchronous or asynchronous modes at distances up to 12 miles(19.2 km) The Model 1065 is available in a standalone or rack mount package.The rack mount unit offers redundant AC or DC power supply options thatprotect against power-related failures, providing fault-tolerant operation.Power is provided to the standalone unit through an internal 230 or 120 VACpower supply. Local management of the Model 1065 is provided via three sets of eight DIPswitches. The configuration switches allow users to select data rates,clocking methods, V.52 and V.54 tests, word lengths, extended signalingrates, asynchronous mode, two-or four-wire operation, anti-stream control,and input impedance. The Model 1065 offers two test modes to evaluate thecondition of the modems and the communication link. RS-232 synchronous or asynchronous data is modulated for transmission over atwisted pair and demodulated over a twisted pair to recreate RS-232 signals.The Model 1065 is intended for harsh industrial settings such as railways,refineries, and manufacturing operations.The Model 1065 offers two methods of twisted pair connection: RJ-45 jack andterminal blocks. Multiport operation involves the connection of severalterminals to one host port. In such an application, one local Model 1065 isused as a master unit, and it is connected to several remote Model 1065sthat are acting as slaves.
