Patton Electronics Executive Vice President Receives Maryland Leadership Award2.12.2002 GAITHERSBURG, Maryland - Patton Electronics Company announces that Burton A. Patton, Executive Vice President and co-founder of Patton Electronics, has been awarded the 2001 Maryland Award for International Business Leadership. The award, sponsored jointly by The World Trade Center Institute and Deloitte & Touche, was presented in ceremonies held at the Maryland Science Center during the 6th annual International Business Leadership Awards on February 7. Thomas R. Kelly of Deloitte & Touche announced the awards which recognized Maryland's top 2001 International Business Leaders. Burt Patton received the award along with two other Maryland executives. During his opening remarks, Mr. Kelly explained that the International Business Leadership Awards is the only statewide ceremony honoring excellence in international business for Maryland corporations. The selected finalists were those who exemplify the entrepreneurial spirit, determination, creativity and cultural sensitivity that the global marketplace demands, while demonstrating significant benefits to the State through their successes. Rather than being based entirely on the achievements of a company as a whole, these awards recognize individuals within organizations that truly stand out as leaders in the pursuit of international business. Deborah Kielty, President of the World Trade Center Institute and member of the Winner's Selection Committee said "Burt is a very accomplished business leader. We were particularly impresssed by his ability to identify and develop international distributors. Having worked with international distributors myself, that is no small task."
