Having built a solid reputation as a manufacturer of non-powered short range modems, PATTON ELECTRONICS, INC. has now assembled aformidable array of powered short hauls as well. This month's release of the budget-minded Model 1050 heralded Patton's intention of targeting the the"basic application" end-user, as well as those customers with more rigorous demands. Taken together, Patton's line of powered short hauls addresses abroad range of requirements: serial or parallel, asynchronous or synchronous, stand alone or rack mount, on a tight budget or with all the bells andwhistles. All five AC-powered short hauls have two things in common: First, they turn ordinary RS-232 ports into campus -wide data links. Second,they're unconcerned about low power interfaces--notebooks, laptops, printers and other devices with questionable "specs" pose no problem. One otherthing to note is the compatibility between several models. The Model 1050 is compatible with the Model 1060. And the Model 1060 is compatible withthe Model 1226.
