GAITHERSBURG, Maryland - Patton Electronics, an industry leader in access and connectivity products, announces the immediate availability of the latest additions to its Short-Range Modem product line. The Model 1052AS and Model 1053AS are inexpensive 2-wire solutions for providing end-to-end connectivity between asynchronous or synchronous RS-232 devices up to 5 miles (8 km) apart. Ideal for use in RS-232 port extension and tail-circuit applications, the modems provide high-speed access over standard voice-grade copper for hosts, controllers, and PLCs.
The Model 1052 and 1053 modems can be directly connected to the male serial port of your RS-232 devices. Easily accessible DIP-switches simplify configuring asynchronous and synchronous line settings. The Model 1052AS supports multi-rate asynchronous speeds up to 38.4 kbps and synchronous speeds up to 128 kbps. The Model 1053AS provides asynchronous speeds up to 115.2 kbps and up to 128 kbps synchronous. Both modems transparently pass RTS/CTS control signals between hosts.
The Models 1052 and 1053 offer superior signal strength and performance--even in the noisiest environments--with full-duplex transmission utilizing 2B1Q modulation and optical isolation. Surge protection that includes an integrated 250V surge-arrest gas tube is standard on both models.
