Patton's President Addresses Multinational Business Conference11.2.2005 GAITHERSBURG, MARYLAND: Robert R. Patton, President and co-founder of Patton Electronics, Co. addressed the Second Annual Procurement Conference of the Americas during a panel discussion—billed as a "Success Story" Workshop—on Wednesday 2 November 2005. Drawing from a rich repository of foreign-contract wins over Patton's 22 years in business, Mr. Patton shared practical insights about how to penetrate foreign markets to develop business relationships with governments. The Procurement Conference of the Americas is a three-day seminar hosted by the Organization of American States, the Canadian Commercial Cooperation and the U.S. General Services Administration. Public and private-sector business executives seeking domestic and international government contracts attended the event, which bore the theme "Winning International Government Contracts." The conference was conducted at the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia during 31 October through 2 November 2005. The Greater Washington Initiative (GWI) moderated the panel discussion during the success-story workshop. GWI is a non-profit affiliate of the Greater Washington Board of Trade that promotes the Greater Washington region (District of Columbia, Northern Virginia and Suburban Maryland) as an ideal location for locating or expanding a business. In addition to Mr. Patton, speakers on the panel included Ms. April DuBois, Director International Business Development, GWI; Mr. Allen Dillon, Director Government Procurement, Xwave (Canada); and Mr. Robert Nichels, President, Politec (Brazil). Robert R. Patton earned his computer science degree from the University of Maryland, Division of Mathematical and Physical Sciences and Engineering (now the College of Computer, Mathematical and Physical Sciences (CMPS)).
