Patton's Dual-WAN, Cross-Connect Router Cuts Recurring Costs11.4.2005 IPLink™ Model 2620 Low-Cost, Drop-and-Insert, Dual-T1/E1 Router Helps Providers and Enterprises "Link up for less" GAITHERSBURG, MARYLAND: Patton Electronics—the leader in network-access, connectivity, and VoIP solutions—introduces their dual-port T1/E1 router with TDM drop-and-insert capability. The new customer-premise router for service providers and enterprise users reduces recurring monthly charges by consolidating TDM and IP services onto a single T1 or E1 line. Patton's new WAN-access router packs two T1/E1 WAN ports, an any-to-any DS0 cross-connect, two built-in CSU/DSUs, and a built-in 4-port 10/100 Ethernet switch into a low-cost compact package. The Model 2620 is the newest member in Patton's IPLink™ family of broadband WAN-access routers. While only a handful of telecom manufacturers offer similar capabilities in a dual-WAN router, IPLink™ brand is the telecom market's lowest-cost alternative. "IPLink™ packs more powerful features into a single low-cost device than any other manufacturer," said Joseph Gomez, Patton's Senior Product Manager for Data Access Technologies. "The new Model 2620 helps carriers and corporations get more for less with what they already have. It's just one more way Patton delivers pay-back to our enterprise customers and service-provider partners." Carriers can use the Model 2620 to deliver dual voice and data services multiplexed over a single TDM leased line. The Model 2620 frees up existing lines for new customers while avoiding expensive truck-rolls to install new cable. By deploying the device on the subscriber premise, service providers can potentially double their revenues by serving twice as many customers with their existing copper infrastructure. Many small-to-medium businesses (SMBs) pay for two leased lines—one connects to a PBX to carry TDM voice traffic while another carries IP data from the company LAN. Often both pipes are under-utilized, and these organizations can use the Model 2620 to cut their monthly fees in half. By connecting the Model 2620 to just one leased line, as well as the PBX and LAN, the IPLink™ multiplexes both traffic streams onto a single T1 or E1 access line. "With all the capabilities this box brings to the table—at such a low cost—enterprises and service providers alike can cut their monthly outflows," said Scott Whittle, Patton's Director of Product Management, "while keeping a tight lid on deployment costs. Enterprise users can deeply reduce their recurring monthly charges. Providers can substantially increase their leased-line revenues by serving more customers with their installed copper plant."
