The feature-rich Model 2285 connects any RS-485/422/232 device to an Ethernet LAN or WAN using a secure encrypted data stream. The Model 2285 is the first in a new set of products planned for Patton's EtherBITS™ series of single-port serial device servers. The new EtherBITS™ series offers network managers reliable and cost-effective solutions for connecting a vast range of serial devices (payment terminals, access-card readers, meters, sensors, etc.) to a private IP network or the Internet. The new EtherBITS™ device servers build on the popularity of Patton's tiny yet powerful Model 2120 single-port terminal server, as well as Patton's 20 years of experience in developing network-connectivity solutions. The Model 2285 includes a built-in DHCP client to streamline installation by automatically obtaining an IP address from a networked DHCP server. The device server is easy to configure and operate, offering such versatile management options as web browser, serial console, Telnet/SSH, and a built-in windows GUI utility. With built-in COM-port redirection software, the Model 2285, avoids the expense of an additional software license, which is often required to connect a device server to a PC’s COM port.
