Patton Expands RocketLink-G™ Family of Low-Cost G.SHDSL NTUs2.15.2006 New RocketLink-G™ NTUs employ state-of-the-art G.SHDSL technology to double the distance of T1 and E1 circuits over copper twisted pairs. GAITHERSBURG, MD: Patton Electronics—the leader in network-access, connectivity, and VoIP solutions—introduces two new members of their RocketLink-G™ family of manageable, low-cost G.SHDSL NTUs. Both new models provide a built-in T1/E1 interface. The Model 3088/T presents the T1/E1 interface on an RJ-48C receptacle, while the Model 3088/K presents the G.703/G.704 interface on a pair of BNC connectors as well as the RJ-48C jack. The new RocketLink-G™ models offer Network service providers a simple, low-cost way to increase revenues by reaching new customers far beyond the range of traditional T1 or E1 solutions. The Models 3088/K and 3088/T easily extend T1 and E1 services more than twice as far as conventional TDM technologies while leveraging existing two-wire copper infrastructure. With configurable nx64 data rates, providers can use the 3088/K and 3088/T to extend fractional T1 or E1 services up to 9.9 miles (16 kilometers). Because providers can deploy the NTUs without buying or installing expensive DSLAM equipment, RocketLink-G™ solutions dramatically cut the cost of delivering services to new customers. The NTUs are available in -48VDC, 12 VDC and 24VDC power options for convenient installation in carrier environments. Patton's NetLink™ plug-and-play feature makes the RocketLink-G™ easy for end-users to install, further reducing deployment costs for service providers and enterprises by avoiding costly service calls and truck rolls. For network trouble-shooting, RocketLink-G™ software includes built-in local and remote loop-back capabilities. Like most Patton products, all RocketLink-G™ NTUs offer free software upgrades via web download. With remote-configuration, service-monitoring, software-upgrade, and troubleshooting capabilities included as standard features, Patton’s RocketLink-G™ solutions deliver superior carrier-class manageability in a low-cost G.SHDSL NTU. "Now service providers can leverage state-of-the-art, standard G.SHDSL to expand their customer base,” said Joseph Gomez, Patton's Senior Product Manager for Data Access Technologies, “without sacrificing the service-monitoring features that are so critical for their business. Existing RocketLink-G™ models include the Model 3088/CA with a V.35 interface, the Model 3088/D with an X.21 interface, and the Model 3088/I with a 10/100 Base-T Ethernet interface. All RocketLink-G™ NTUs interoperate with all other models within the family, making it easy to provide interface conversion along with service extension—by installing a V.35 model on one end of the circuit and an E1 model on the other end, for example. Another feature that differentiates the RocketLink-G™ product line from its competitors is the ability to deliver G.SHDSL data rates up to 4.6 Mbps using only two wires. Other G.SHDSL solutions require four wires to reach similar speeds. "It’s all about communication,” Joseph Gomez said. “The new RocketLink-G™ models are the direct result of feedback from our customer community. People were very pleased with the performance, manageability, and reliability of the 3088/I. So they came back and asked for a low-cost T1/E1 extension solution. The K and T models are the answers they’re looking for."
