Patton Hardens Communication Products4.5.2006 Patton’s NEW EnviroNET™ products are environmentally-hardened to deliver industrial voice, video, and data-communication services in the harshest of extremes. GAITHERSBURG, MD: Patton Electronics — the leader in network-access, connectivity, and VoIP solutions — has launched their new EnviroNET™ brand of environmentally-hardened communications equipment for telecom and industrial networks. Patton is announcing an extensive range of new products, including WAN Routers, VoIP Gateways, Ethernet Extenders, Device Servers and DSL Modems, all designed specifically for the rigors of heavy industry, mobile and/or outdoor networking applications. The new product series delivers voice, video, and data communication services in harsh environments including deserts, oil fields, mines, Antarctic-lab stations, ships, railroads, factories, airports, subways, stadiums and college dorms. These sites put unusual demands on communications equipment. The equipment must be designed to both operate in extreme temperatures and moisture, and endure dust, dirt, oil and/or corrosive chemicals, wind, rain, snow, and more, year-after-year. Patton’s new EnviroNET™ products are safely housed in NEMA4-compliant, environmentally-sealed and thermally-controlled enclosures. The EnviroNET™ product line is designed with operating temperatures ranging from -45° to 85° Celsius (-49° to 185° Fahrenheit). The units are constructed for either indoor or outdoor use, sealed to protect against ingress of solid foreign objects, corrosion, the ingress of water (including hose directed water) and the units will operate undamaged by the external formation of ice on the enclosure. “These boxes are built tough like a Patton-tank,” said Glen Flowers, Patton’s Product Marketing Manager. “…And they can handle more than just the ravages of industry. This gear can take the abuse of public life—even spilled beer” “We are responding to our customer’s requests” said Johnnie Grant, Product Manager. “I cannot tell you how many times our customers asked for environmentally enhanced products. Now we can say ‘yes’ and offer a very affordable solution.” Patton currently sells networking products in 120 countries and has an extensive following of carrier and industrial customers. The first available EnviroNET™ models provide extension and termination for VoIP, Ethernet, and T1/E1 networks. Additional solutions for routed broadband-access, xDSL, RS-232 device-networking will become available soon.
