Cat-5 Surge Protectors Announced

Patton Electronics' Environmental Products Group is proud to announce two new surge protectors for Category 5 (Cat-5) data lines. Theseprotectors support data rates up to 100Mbps, and are suitable for 100BaseT, 100VG-Any LAN and other Category 5 applications. The Model 570providespoint-of-use protection for Cat-5 data ports, and is rated to IEC Level 1 (Level 2 in failure mode). The Model 580 provides primary(building entrance) protection for Cat-5 circuits and is rated to IEC Level 3 (Level4 in failure mode).

Both Models 570 and 580 are EIA/TIA TSB-40A Category 5 certified, and are equipped with RJ-45 modular jacks for connection to Cat-5 cable.Near End Cross Talk (NEXT) is better than -44 dB (wost pair) at 100 Mhz. Surge energy is diverted away from data ports and safely to chassisground through a sturdy braided metal strap. The Models 570 and 580 are available in either 6 or 8 wire versions. Prices start at $95 each. Productis scheduled to ship in early 1996.
