The FF2410 Ethernet over E1 (IP-over-TDM) Bridging Gateway/Multiplexer enables Ethernet to be transported (bridged) over E1 lines. Like an Ethernet to E1 Media Converter 10/100BaseT Ethernet is converted to E1 and then back to Ethernet on the other side.
The unit is a desktop model and is used in pairs, back-to-back. Two FF2410 can be used together a FF2410 can be used with the FF2460 to support point-to-multipoint connections, where the FF2460 aggregates up to 16 E1s connecting to E1 distributed to multiple locations, creating an Ethernet WAN over TDM.
The unit is used like an Ethernet Extender leveraging legacy TDM telecom infrastructure (E1s, PDH/SDH, or Microwave) presenting E1 interfaces. The FF2410 and FF2460 convert Ethernet data into the E1 frame format for transmission over TDM (E1) links and re-converts the E1 back into Ethernet data the far-end bridging the two Ethernet LANs over the TDM network. The device can utilize redundant bandwidth of telecom operators' existing TDM network to transport Ethernet data at a low cost.
The unit supports E1 Interfaces with 120ohm (Wire Pair) and 75ohm (Coax). The Ethernet Interface options include either 10/100 Base-T Copper Ethernet or 100Base-FX Optical Ethernet over 850nm/1310nm/1550nm single mode optical fiber.
The units offer Monitoring and Alarming features and can be managed via a 10/100BaseT Ethernet management interface, RS-232 serial interface, via Remote (Telnet), Windows XP-based GUI, Windows 7 based GUI or with SNMP V2 Monitoring. An optional NMS (Network Management System) is available for monitoring multiple units from a single / central location.
It comes with a single -48V DC or Universal AC Power.
