ForeFront FF2460 Ethernet over E1 (IP-over-TDM) Bridging Gateway/Extender/Converter with 4, 8 or 16 E1 ports

This device enables Ethernet to be Transported, Extended or “Bridged” over a E1 lines. Like an Ethernet over E1 Inverse Multiplexer or Media Converter, Ethernet is connected back-to-back over multiple E1 circuits.

• Multiple Bonded E1s - - Up to 16 E1s supporting VCAT (virtual concatenation) enabling maximum utilization of the TDM bandwidth by inverse multiplexing the E1 lines combining the bandwidth and creating a high bandwidth virtual circuit.
• Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation - Using LCAS (Link Capacity Adjustment Scheme), dynamic and hitless adjustments are made to the bandwidth of the VCAT groups enabling bandwidth increases and decreases without data loss. Supports automatic removal and addition of E1 Links without service interruption.
• Powerful Ethernet Features - Supports VLAN tagging, 802.1 based QoS feature with priority classification for incoming 802.1Q packets, IEEE 802.1p Class of Service traffic categorization, 802.1P priority classification for ingress packets
• User Controls - Provides 4 different user selectable ratios (0:1, 1:2, 1:5 and 1:10) for delivery of high and low priority packets, User selectable ports for enabling / disabling the QoS service. Port based Ethernet limits allow a user to provide different speed for the different customers to utilize bandwidth according to their requirements.
• Adaptable Ethernet - The Ethernet Interface options include either 10/100 Base-T Copper Ethernet or 100Base-FX Optical Ethernet over 850nm/1310nm/1550nm single mode optical fiber. Ethernet frame size up to 1916 bytes, MAC address list filtration, learning and updating functions. SDRAM buffering for handling data bursts.
• Clocking - Supports two clock synchronization modes, Internal clock and Network clock (Loop-Timed clock).
• Monitoring & Alarming - Indicators for Power and a General Alarm Indicator for E1 and Ethernet Link. Descriptive E1 alarm selected via DIP switch, E1 Alarm for individual E1 port (1-16), Code Violation History (CV_HIS) Alarm on E1 port, Loss Of Signal (LOS) Alarm on E1 port, Group ID (GID) mismatch alarm, and Generic Framing Procedure (GFP_LOF) Loss Of Frame Alarm. Ethernet Link Indicator, Ethernet Speed Indicator, and Ethernet History Error Alarm (ETH_ERR).
• Management & Control - Managed via a 10/100BaseT Ethernet management interface, RS232 serial management interface via Remote (Telnet) management interface, Windows XP based Graphical User Interface (GUI), Windows 7 based Graphical User Interface (GUI) or SNMP V2 Monitoring. An optional NMS (Network Management System) is available for monitoring multiple units from a single / central location.
• Rugged Design - Industrial design supports Ingress Protection Ratings to IP30 and the unit can be standalone or rack mounted (1U high). MTBF: 192,900 hours.
• AC or DC Power - Comes with dual internal -48V DC. External Universal AC Power Adapters available.

The FF2460 Ethernet over E1 (IP-over-TDM) Bridging Gateway/Multiplexer enables Ethernet to be transported (bridged) over multiple E1 lines.  Like an Ethernet over E1 Media Converter 10/100BaseT Ethernet is converted to E1 and then back to Ethernet on the other side.

The units support up to 16 E1s, which can be bandwidth bonded/aggregated using VCAT (virtual concatenation) enabling maximum utilization of the TDM bandwidth by inverse multiplexing the E1 lines and combining the bandwidth and creating a high bandwidth virtual circuit.

Dynamic bandwidth allocation is done using LCAS (Link Capacity Adjustment Scheme), where dynamic and adjustments are made to the bandwidth of the VCAT groups.  This enables bandwidth increases and decreases without data loss and allows removal and addition of E1 Links to the virtual circuit without service interruptions.

The unit supports E1 Interfaces with 120ohm (Wire Pair) or adapted to 75ohm (Coax).  The Ethernet Interface options include either 10/100 Base-T Copper Ethernet or 100Base-FX Optical Ethernet over 850nm/1310nm/1550nm single mode optical fiber.

The FF2460 is basically an Ethernet extension device using TDM telecom infrastructure for carrying Ethernet data.  It converts the Ethernet data into E1 frame format for transmission over the existing TDM (E1) links and then re-converts the E1 back into Ethernet data at the far-end terminal, to BRIDGE two Ethernet LANs over the existing E1 based telecom network. The device can effectively utilize the existing TDM network to transport Ethernet data at low investment.

Available with 4E1, 8E1 or 16E1 Port options, the units are installed back-to-back in pairs.  The units offer Monitoring and Alarming features and can be managed via a 10/100BaseT Ethernet management interface, RS-232 serial interface, via Remote (Telnet), Windows XP-based GUI, Windows 7 based GUI or with SNMP V2 Monitoring.  An optional NMS (Network Management System) is available for monitoring multiple units from a single / central location.
