Patton Embeds Broadsoft PacketSmart Probe in SmartNode VoIP CPE4.6.2016 SmartNode VoIP… More than just talk! The powerful combination of PacketSmart Probe embedded in SmartNode VoIP solutions promises increased business up-time for subscribers and lower customer-support costs for service providers.
Available as a licensed feature on SmartNode VoIP products, the PacketSmart Probe allows service providers to use a SmartNode device on the subscriber premise to remotely and proactively monitor the health and performance of the subscriber WAN-access link and enterprise LAN. The powerful combination of PacketSmart in SmartNode combined with the BroadCloud-based analytic platform promises increased business uptime for subscribers and lower customer-support costs for service providers. “We are pleased that Patton continues working with BroadSoft to deliver competitive advantage to our service-provider customers,” said Don Lewis, Director of BroadCloud PacketSmart Services at Broadsoft. “For over a decade Patton has demonstrated their commitment to enhancing service quality while reducing the costs of deployment, operation, and network management. Embedding PacketSmart Probe into SmartNode furthers these efforts.” Patton, which initially completed BroadSoft interoperability testing with BroadSoft in 2006, unveiled its auto-provisioning solution for BroadWorks SIP trunks at the 2014 BroadSoft Connections event. Now with PacketSmart Probe built into SmartNode VoIP solutions, Patton enables telecom operators to reduce the cost and complexity of subscriber-premise hardware for delivering, monitoring, and troubleshooting BroadSoft-based services. SmartNode eSBCs now offer PacketSmart monitoring capabilities combined with WAN-access, media-gateway, SIP-normalization, edge-router, VoIP-security functions all in a single customer-premise-equipment (CPE) solution. PacketSmart provides continuous, real-time, health and quality-of-service monitoring of customer networks and live calls 24 x 7 x 365 with proactive alerting and automated reporting, enabling service providers to identify local-area-network (LAN) and wide-area-network (WAN) issues that may impair VoIP service quality. In contrast to solutions that require investing in a discrete analytics system, BroadCloud PacketSmart analytics are delivered as a cloud-based subscription, which reduces capital expenditures (CapEx) required for service deployment, as well as associated operations and maintenance costs. In related news, Patton recently announced its entry into the SDN and VNF arena with a Virtual eSBC for carrier demos and alpha tests. Next month, Patton will join Obama and the US Delegation at Hannover Messe to Showcase Enabling Technology Solutions for M2M & IIoT.
