GO Malta uses SmartNodes with the Patton Cloud to deliver SIP Trunks Securely and Efficiently with Low CAPEX

Go Malta uses SmartNodes in conjunction with Broadworks and the Patton Cloud to deliver SIP Trunking with unrivaled cost, efficiency, quality, reliability, manageability and security.

Synopsis
When GO Malta was looking to deploy a new SIP Trunk Service from their BroadWorks platform they needed to ensure QoS across the access network and Service Demarcation at customer premises, which included Converged Security using TLS encryption. And they wanted a solution that was efficient in terms of provisioning, service-turn up, quality and service management.

The Picture

Instead, a Patton SmartNode is being deployed on premise, which is acting as a VoIP Gateway, integrating legacy equipment in to GO`s telephony service. For All-IP Customers, GO is delivering an eSBC, acting as the service demarcation point which is essential when going over the top (OTT)

They are also the only Maltese operator with a fully integrated fixed and mobile network and so they are able to provide integrated and seamless experience to their customers.

When GO Malta was looking to deploy a new SIP Trunk Service using their Broadsoft and Ericsson platforms, they knew well the service needed to ensure QoS in the access network. They needed Service Demarcation at customer premises, which included Converged Security using TLS encryption. And they wanted a solution that was efficient in terms of provisioning, service-turn up, quality and service management.

GO engaged in competitive examination included rigorous product testing in their network for interoperability and OA&M as well as a commercial RFP process. GO selected the Patton SmartNode because it offered the best overall value. The SmartNode offered good pricing on platforms that delivered eSBC functionality with BRI/PRI and All-IP SIP hardware together with flexible Cloud-based license management models that served the full spectrum of subscriber needs.

Integrated with both Broadsoft (now Cisco) Broadworks and the Patton-Cloud enabled Auto provisioning that leveraged the Broadworks Device Management as well as PacketSmart quality monitoring together with Patton’s license-management and service management components of the Cloud.

Testing with the SmartNode went off very quickly and the plasticity of the embedded software, together with the Patton-Cloud made Patton’s solution the most adaptable, enabling GO to offer standard services that could be easily tweak’d to fit various subscriber integrations. They were also able to greatly reduce CAPEX and scale OPEX to the subscriber uptake. The Patton solution also offered superior security and data protection satisfying EU GDPR regulations.

After, selection, GO Malta deployed the SmartNodes together with the Cloud and utilized a substantial compliment of Patton Cloud Services as a Centralized Management Platform including OA&M, License Management, Remote Device Management, Edge Orchestration (Service Management) and Monitoring.
