Article Id #: 291 | |||
Creating 3 way calling ( conference ) using SmartNode and the SIP Express Media Server.
Firstly, you would need a Linux or UNIX based server, which will do the voice mixing. We recommend you to use SEMS ( http://www.iptel.org/sems/ ) which is available for free of charge. After downloading the SEMS ( from now media server ) please unpack it and compile it. root@sandbox:~# tar -xzf sems-latest.tar.gz # This unpacks the downloaded and zipped tarball. root@sandbox:~# cd sems-1.4.2/ # Now enter into the directory once the compilation is done, you can install it to the default location. root@sandbox:~/sems-1.4.2# make install # do the installation *** install complete. Run SEMS with*** From now your media server is configured. You can download the attached configuration and replace it with the default one which was created during the installation. And now let's configure the SmartNode: In the "context cs" you have to create the service, which will handle the conference, a conference route and the fxs and sip interfaces. Please be aware that when you create the sip interface, no "remote" configuration command is needed, as this attribute will be generated by the conferencing service. context cs interface sip IF_SIP_CONFERENCE service sip-conference SRV_CONFERENCE interface fxs IF_FXS00 From now on, if you have one active call and someone is in waiting, you can put the original call on hold by pressing the flash button followed by the "3" button on the phones keypad, and the SmartNode will initiate the 3 party conference.
