Description:

The Component Engineer supports product development for Patton Electronics entire line of communications and networking products and the introduction of new products to Manufacturing. As a member of the Engineering Services team, the Component Engineer cooperates with electronic hardware designers and other members of Patton's Engineering, Manufacturing and Purchasing teams to manage components, bills of materials, and the approved vendor list.

Responsibilities:

Identify multiple sources and alternate options for components.
Review requests for and qualify new components under consideration of lifecycle, cost and sourcing aspects.
Manage regulatory compliance aspects of components, including RoHS, REACH and conflict minerals.
Manage component obsolescence.
Participate in selection and evaluation of critical components for new designs.
Participate in component-based cost reduction of existing designs.
Establish and maintain component-related processes in the Product Lifecycle Management Tool.

Requirements:

Electrical Engineering degree and a minimum of five years directly applicable work experience.
Strong knowledge of electronic circuits and components, and their use.
Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management methods and tools.
Familiarity with ECAD tools, preferably Altium, is advantageous.
Well organized, able to work under minimal supervision and able to manage tasks to completion.
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
