Technical Pre-Sales Engineer
What you can expect
The Technical Pre-Sale Engineer leads the Patton Electronics Pre-Sales engagement, partnering with Account Managers and Channel Partners, acting as technical sales professional to build customer-centric value propositions focused on business outcome. The Pre-Sales Engineer translates business needs into technical requirements and can present a technical vision, business case and solution set specifically developed for the customer. The Pre-Sales Engineer builds and nurtures relationships by helping both customers and partners to optimize their investments in Patton Electronics solutions.

The role is responsible for the orchestration and application of technical resources to the opportunity and leads the project team in the solution design process. As such, the Pre-Sales Engineer must possess strong technical and interpersonal skills and be able to lead technical discussions with the customer, the partner and the account team regarding the challenges in today's market, industry trends, and the Patton Electronics vision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assessment of customer's business requirements to accurately qualify opportunities
  • Translate customer requirements according to internal processes and present to Product Management, Account Manager and VP Sales
  • Understanding the ecosystem of various solution providers likely to positively influence partner and customer decisions and, alongside the Patton Electronics Account Manager, determining whether an opportunity shall be Patton Electronics or Partner-led
  • Respond to customer RFx, coordinating implementation by leveraging pre-tested systems and designs and by researching customized solutions
  • Develop, lead and implement Proof of Concept (PoC) installations, leveraging our Center of Excellence and Technical Experts
  • Judges situations rationally, taking into account the necessary facts, information, and company policies/guidelines. Knows when to escalate. Evaluates situations objectively. Considers risks and viable alternatives.
  • Provide adequate documentation for clear hand-off to the Post-Sales organizations (partners and customers) and take over level 3 technical support activities
  • Provide technical product trainings and conduct product certifications together with our technology partners
  • Act in an increasingly consultative fashion and enhance the role as a trusted technical advisor to the customer and to our partner's resources
  • As an experienced team member, provide mentoring and guidance to other employees
  • Position is based in our Bern office (Switzerland) or home office in Western Europe region
What we expect
  • Strong knowledge of broad Patton Electronics portfolio or comparable portfolio of other companies/competitors
  • Experience in LAN/WAN (TCP/IP, Switching/Routing, VLAN, DNS, IPSec), Telephony (ISDN, POTS) and VoIP (SIP, RTP, H.323)
  • Certificates like Certified SmartNode Engineer, CCNA/CCNP. Any other is a plus
  • Strong relationship building capability
  • Effective communication, persuasive presentation and public speaking skills, must be fluent in two languages: English is a must, German, Italian, French oraAny additional language is a plus.
  • Self-motivated, a self-starter and results-orientated
  • Able to work in flat organizations and complex situations, and prioritize effectively with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrates independent judgement within broadly defined policies and practices to determine best method for achieving objectives
