Patton's Ethernet-over-T1/E1 Inverse Mux Enables NGN Deployments and High-Speed Backhaul6.12.2007 The IPLink™ Model 2888 Inverse Mux accelerates transition to next-generation networking (NGN) by transparently extending high-speed MPLS, VLAN, and IP/Ethernet networks over bonded T1/E1 circuits with large/jumbo Ethernet frames. IPLink™ Broadband Routers link up for less GAITHERSBURG, MD, USA: Patton-the leader in business-class network access, connectivity, and VoIP equipment- is now shipping the IPLink™ Model 2888 Ethernet over Bonded T1/E1 Inverse Multiplexer. The Model 2888 Inverse Multiplexers integrates multi-layer QoS with large/jumbo frames and efficient bonding of four T1/E1 circuits to enable reliable and transparent transport for next-generation-network extension over existing TDM infrastructures. "Access is still the most challenging part of the network," says Joseph Gomez, IPLink Product Manager. "The network has plenty of TDM capacity but lacks the scalability to support today's IP/Ethernet packet services. Why carry the expense of fiber when you already have facilities ready to work for you today. Now service providers can re-deploy existing TDM circuits while exceeding all the challenges of access bandwidth for broadband services." The Model 2888 is an ideal solution for service provider backhaul of IpDSLAM, WiMax, and peering traffic, as well as point-to-point enterprise Ethernet extension over existing T1/E1 TDM circuits. A key feature of the Model 2888 is transparency to transport protocols via large/jumbo Ethernet frame sizes. With Gigabit Ethernet interfaces that support jumbo frames, the IPLink router enables any transport technology, including MPLS traffic with stacked labels, to transparently ride the TDM network for as long and far as needed. Enterprises benefit from using the IPLink™ Model 2888 by increasing the bandwidth available between locations without increasing the complexity of their IP networks. For enterprises, the Inverse Mux transparently bridges Ethernet traffic, creating a high-speed Ethernet over TDM capability. Last month, Patton announced two new catalogs, presenting over 1,000 solutions for voice and data networking.
