SmartNode™ VoIP CPEs Now Certified for Interoperability by Cirpack®7.31.2006 Patton adds Thomson Cirpack® certification to the industry’s most interoperable VoIP Gateway-Router Platform. SmartNode™ VoIP. . . more than just talk BERNE, SWITZERLAND: Patton-Inalp Networks AG — creator of the SmartNode™ brand of industry-leading VoIP technology solutions — announced today that Thomson has certified Patton’s SmartNode™ brand VoIP customer-premise-equipment (CPE) for interoperability with their Cirpack® brand softswitches. The certified interoperability offers carriers increased confidence in a smooth migration path from legacy telephony infrastructures to fully-converged voice-and data services — built on two industry-leading VoIP solutions. "Without question, SmartNode™ is the most interoperable Voice-over-IP platform in the world.” said Burton A. Patton, Patton’s Executive Vice President. “This Swiss-developed VoIP technology not only has unmatched features, but unlike most VoIP Gateways, is highly adaptable and configurable for any deployment scenario, with any Softswitch or IP-PBX. Patton has aggressively pursued softswitch interoperability for the SmartNode and SmartLink families of Voice-over-IP and triple-play platforms in their own Interoperability Program. Patton’s program recognizes third-party softswitches proven to interoperate with SmartNode gear, primarily through live carrier deployments. Numerous softswitch vendors have also certified Patton’s VoIP platforms for interoperability, including BroadSoft and now Cirpack. "Patton brings a lot to the table," said Fabien Maisl, Marketing Director of Thomson’s Network Intelligence Solutions Cirpack. “Their extensive portfolio is a great fit with our worldwide customer base. Carriers always prefer a single-source supplier and SmartNode pretty well covers it. We are very pleased to welcome Patton as a certified technology partner.” With solutions ranging from two POTS or BRI lines up to multiple T1/E1 PRIs, SmartNode™ fits installations of all shapes and sizes from a single platform. SmartNode™ gateways use the industry-standard Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) to connect existing residential and enterprise equipment to the advanced VoIP features and services of Cirpack®. "The Thomson Cirpack validation is a nice new credential,” said Marco Liechti, VoIP Product Manager at Patton. “It underscores our longstanding commitment to the standards. SmartNode works with all the major players. Thomson’s Cirpack certification... it helps build confidence in the market. Still, from a product manager’s perspective… we’ve been doing interop since the beginning." The recent Cirpack-SmartNode testing, commissioned by Thomson, was conducted by Niji (Cesson-Sévigné, France), a systems-integration consulting firm that specializes in voice-and-data convergence.
