SmartNode™ VoIP... More than just talk!
GAITHERSBURG, MARYLAND: Patton—creator of the
virtual SmartNode (vSN) virtual CPE and US-manufacturer of world-class network equipment since 1981—has won the Internet Telephony 2021 Product of the Year Award for its
SmartNode SN4740 High-Density FXS VoIP
Gateway.
VoIP for campuses, apartments, hospitality
First announced
one year ago, the SN4740 is designed to enable unified communications (UC), SIP trunking, and
IP telephony for
hotels, motels, MTU/MDU or campus environments using analog phones.
“We are honored to accept this prestigious award,” said Robert R. Patton (Bobby), CEO. “Analog VoIP is a story within a story.”

Bobby elaborates: “As the ALL-IP revolution unfolds, legacy analog equipment is still business-critical for many. Patton is committed to supporting their needs. We’ve been doing business for over forty years, so we understand the requirements of those organizations.”
Six Miles!
Remarkably, the SN4740 can extend 128 FXS lines up to six miles or more while converting the analog voice from existing legacy handsets into a packetized data stream for transmission over the Internet using a SIP-Trunk service.
Message Waiting…
The SN4740 provides Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) support, which is essential for hotels, motels, multi-tenant-units and multi-dwelling-units (MTU/MDU) and similar business operations. In today’s ALL-IP telephony market, such legacy capabilities are exceptional.
“Congratulations to Patton for earning yet another Internet Telephony Product of the Year Award,” said Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC. “As the UC revolution takes hold, the SmartNode SN4740 is an essential solution for countless businesses.”
Tehrani continued: “I look forward to seeing the innovations Patton will bring to market in the coming years.”
In 2005, Patton won the Product of the Year Award from Internet Telephony Magazine for its innovative
SmartNode™ 4630 BRI So VoIP
Router.
In the ensuing years, the company earned more than two dozen industry awards for its innovative—and diverse—networking products and solutions.
Last year, Patton won Product of the Year
for its virtual CPE, the virtual SmartNode (vSN).
