GAITHERSBURG, MD, USA:  Patton Electronics—manufacturer of award-winning SmartNode™ VoIP equipment, CopperLink™ Ethernet Extenders, and BODi rS™ high-availability routers—is now taking pre-orders for the CopperLink CL2300 Managed Ethernet Extender series.

Made in the USA at Patton’s Gaithersburg, MD headquarters, the CL2300 can bond up to four copper twisted pairs for Ethernet Extension over existing voice-grade copper cabling with symmetrical speeds up to 60 Mbps. The CL2300 can achieve distances up to 27,000 feet over standard copper twisted pairs.

“Customers have asked us,” said Johnnie Grant, CopperLink product manager, “to create a smarter copper-based Ethernet Extension solution that can be managed remotely and securely. Here it is… the CopperLink 2300 is our answer. Our newest CopperLink has more features than any of its predecessors, with the same simple plug-and-play operation our customers love.”

Patton's CL2300 4-port managed Ethernet extenders feature remote management (via RS-232 console) with such security features as SSH and Stateful Firewall—plus optional Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) on one of the four Ethernet ports. The CL2300 can reach up to 27,000 feet over standard voice-grade copper cable.

Perhaps the greatest customer benefit of Patton’s CopperLink line is extending the useful life of existing—and ubiquitous—copper network infrastructures.

“You can use what you’ve already got,” Grant comments. “The time and cost of installing new fiber, or even Cat5, can easily turn any networking project into a non-starter.”

Patton has built Ethernet extenders in the USA ever since bringing the first Ethernet extender to market in the 1990s. Branded the LAN-Xtend™, Patton's  Model 2111 achieved 2.3 Mbps over single twisted-pair.

Today CopperLink™ Ethernet Extenders are installed and operating in a vast diversity of environments, including Maryland State Highway Administration, nuclear power plantsIcon indicates PDF file., boy scout campsIcon indicates PDF file., submarines, sports arenas, election systems, and a rock 'n' roll celebrity museumIcon indicates PDF file..

This past July, Patton announced another product that leverages installed copper lines: the US-manufactured ForeFront™ 3310RC Ethernet-in-the-First-Mile (EFM) DLSAM delivers broadband Ethernet service to users up to 1.6 miles away—with speeds up to 22.8 Mbps.
